Jose Coronado-Flores

Jose Coronado-Flores is a Guatemalan-immigrant writer with a bachelor’s from Harvard University where he was the first author of a creative thesis in the Comparative Literature Department.

He arrived in Florida, when he was four years old. Jose’s family sought better medical care and a chance for a more meaningful life for his younger brother who was born with cerebral palsy. He overcame poverty and struggles, ultimately attending Harvard after completing the International Baccalaureate program. He loves to write and has a grand vision that contemporary literature will reflect diverse voices from all marginalized groups telling stories rich in literary creativity.

Currently, he is working on a master’s from Johns Hopkins University in mechanical engineering. Taking inspiration from his three years organizing and working as a climate justice policy analyst for CASA, a prominent immigrant advocacy organization, he decided to start his own solar installation company, Flores Photovoltaics LLC. Jose is committed to reversing and mitigating the health effects of pollution, one solar panel at a time.
